May 25, 2022 Update:
ODNR unfortunately has not responded to any of our efforts to work on reasonable coastal management regulations that respect our deeds and our court decision. Instead, they found Senate sponsors for SB 313, legislation to make changes to the coastal management program. We found out when the bill was introduced.
We are working with our legal team and a government affairs staff (lobbyists) to ask for several important and necessary changes to this legislation before it moves forward. Tony testified against the bill this week and several of our leaders reached out to the Chairman, key committee members and the Governor to ask that it not be moved before summer break and to work with us for necessary changes. That effort seems to have been successful; the Senate is currently scheduled for one more week before breaking for the summer, and as of now the bill is not scheduled for a hearing on May 31st.
